Meet Your Teacher Mr. Primeaux

Mr. Primeaux received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from CSULB in 1997. He continued at CSULB and earned his Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science in 1998. Mr. Primeaux earned his Masters of Science degree in Education emphasizing in integrating technology in the classroom from Walden University in 2009.

Mr. Primeaux has been teaching in Garden Grove Unified School District since 1997. Mr. Primeaux is a product of Garden Grove Unified, he attended K-12 in GGUSD attending Patton Elementary, Bell Intermediate, and Pacifica High School.

Mr. Primeaux said he wanted to stay in GGUSD because he felt he received a great education and wanted to continue that Garden Grove tradition. Mr. Primeaux started as a substitute teacher in the district before receiving his teaching credential. Mr. Primeaux’s first teaching assignment was in special education, his first two years in the district were dedicated to those students with learning disabilities. When the opportunity to teach social studies opened up at the high school level, Mr. Primeaux jumped at the chance to teach what he loves, social science. He has been teaching at GGHS since 1999 (2000 graduating class). “Teaching high school was probably the last thing on my mind when I was in high school”, stated Mr. Primeaux when asked what he wanted to do when he was younger. Mr. Primeaux enjoys teaching and coaching at the high school level. He currently teaches Civics, World History, and Online Civics. Mr. Primeaux is the Varsity golf coach at GGHS, due to the elimination of the golf programs by Garden Grove Unified, Mr. Primeaux is on hiatus until its return. Mr. Primeaux said, it was a sad day when he finally received the "death sentence" for golf. The district has assured him that the cuts are temporary during these trying economic times and he looks forward continuing coaching when the district decides to bring golf back.

When Mr. Primeaux is not at GGHS, he enjoys golfing, travelling, hanging out with his 3 dogs, getting tattoos and occasionally playing Madden online. Mr. Primeaux is married his long time love Melanie and they reside in Mission Viejo.

Mr. Primeaux believes that he has found his calling and loves his job, he stated that "when students leave his class hopefully they have found a new appreciation for the social sciences.”
